“The journey is my home.”    Muriel Rukeyser

Hola! My name is Cynthia and like many people, I love travel. I love it so much that I, unintentionally, made a career of it.

My great adventure began as a solo backpacker. I fell in love with Mexico upon arrival and travelled through Guatemala, Honduras and back through Mexico numerous times before I explored other parts of the world.

My travels in Australia lead to Thailand and Nepal and then, eventually, back to Mexico. I worked as a tour leader taking small groups of international travellers around Mexico and Central America. After 7 years, I left life on the road to work as a travel consultant in Vancouver, which, naturally, led to more travel.

My first trip was at 18 months old. It was still free for me to fly so my mom took me on a six-week journey around England, France, Scotland, and Wales.  Summer road trips took us from one coast of Canada to the other and back again. Travel has come naturally to me ever since.

Years later, I travelled solo around Mexico and immediately fell in love with the country. That trip inspired other travels around the world. I went scuba diving in Australia, drank kava in Fiji, sold my shoes in Thailand and walked with sadhus in Nepal. I loved them all  but Mexico stayed in my heart and always pulled me back. After exploring Guatemala and Honduras, I found a place to volunteer and planned a 6 month stay in San Cristobal de las Casas, a city nestled in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico’s most southern state, two hours from the border of Guatemala.

Six months quickly turned into 5 years when I started working as a tour leader, taking small groups of international travellers around Mexico and Central America. I eventually hung up my backpack and settled in Vancouver where I continued to work in travel, earned my certification as a translator from Spanish to English and explore the world.

After years of solo travel and many group tours both as a passenger and as a tour leader I appreciate how different people are in terms of what they want to see in a destination. I often led the same 3 week trip on back to back departures and no matter how many times I travelled that same route I was always seeing something new because the trip was based on how my clients wanted to experience it.
