RUN athens

Beyond Marathon

The few years have been a gruelling run as the world slowly opened to travel again. I can think of no better way to celebrate than by bringing two loves together: travel and running. Lace up your shoes and join us on this 10 day itinerary to Athens and beyond.

Not a runner? Cheerleaders are more than welcome!

The modern marathon was inspired by the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek messenger who raced from the site of Marathon to Athens, a distance of about 40 kilometres, or nearly 25 miles, with the news of the Greek victory over the invading army of Persians in 490 B.C. After delivering the good news he collapsed and died. To commemorate his dramatic run, the distance of the 1896 Olympic marathon was set at 40 kilometers.

Day 1 –  Arrive Athens and transfer to hotel.  Overnight in Athens. Full day tour including an Athens city tour, the Marathon Tomb & the Museum as well as the Marathon way to see the race course.

Day 2    Free day. Take this time to explore Athens on your own, run the 10km race or relax at a sidewalk coffee shop and rest up for the big event. A pre-race dinner is included, pasta of course.

Day 3   Ready, on your mark, go! Today is race day. An early morning transfer to the start line is included. This is what you have worked so hard for.
